    Repair

The driveline is what puts power to the ground. When something is off — a vibration, a noise, a hesitation — it affects everything about how the vehicle drives and works.

    OVERVIEW

    What This Service Covers

Driveline repair at Midway goes beyond drivetrain basics. Rick rebuilds transmissions, transfer cases and differentials in house, sets up differential gears, diagnoses driveline complaints and fabricates custom driveshafts when an off-the-shelf part won't do.

Because these components interact under load, the work starts with diagnosis — finding the source of a vibration or noise before replacing parts — and finishes with rebuilding and setup done to proper tolerances.

    COMMON SIGNS

    Symptoms You May Notice

These are signs that may indicate a need for professional inspection. This is not a diagnosis — only a professional assessment can determine the actual cause.

    • Vibration felt through the floor or steering
    • Clunking or clicking when accelerating or turning
    • Shuddering during takeoff or under load
    • Fluid leaks near the transmission, differential or transfer case
    • Slipping, hard shifts or difficulty engaging gears
    • Whining or humming from underneath the vehicle

    Experiencing any of these?

    PROFESSIONAL INSPECTION

    Why Professional Inspection Matters

Driveline symptoms can originate from multiple components. A vibration could be a driveshaft, a U-joint, a differential or something else entirely. Professional inspection identifies the source — preventing unnecessary parts replacement and ensuring the repair addresses the real problem.

    What To Expect

    • A thorough inspection of driveline and transmission components
    • Clear identification of the source of the issue
    • In-house rebuilding of transmissions, transfer cases and differentials where appropriate
    • Custom driveshaft fabrication when needed
"They can do everything from the basics to custom exhaust and structural repairs."

Come to Midway and Rick — you'll never go anywhere else.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do you rebuild transmissions in house?

Yes. Midway performs in-house transmission repair and rebuilding, along with transfer-case rebuilding and differential rebuilding and gear setup. Rebuilding the unit is often an option instead of replacing it outright — we'll assess and explain which makes sense.

I feel a vibration at highway speed. Could that be driveline-related?

It could be. Driveline vibrations often become noticeable at certain speeds, but vibrations can also come from tires, wheels or other systems. A professional inspection will identify the actual source.

Can you make a custom driveshaft?

Yes. Midway fabricates custom driveshafts when a standard replacement isn't suitable — for modified vehicles, specific lengths or applications where an off-the-shelf part won't fit. Contact us to discuss your vehicle.
